The Main Street Preservation Trust has opened applications for 2021 for business and property owners along Main Street in Gloucester who wish to improve their facades or interiors of their buildings in the commercial area of Main Street. The program is now in its 11th year for awarding façade grants and in its 9th year for awarding interior and merchandising assistance grants.

The large white washed wall of the stone building next to the old Texaco station on Gloucester Main Street will transform from its current state as a blank canvas and into a mural honoring and celebrating the life and legacy of T.C. Walker, The Cook Foundation announced this week.

At the Cook Foundation office on Main Street, Adrianne Joseph, Cook Foundation President, and Mollie Stewart, Cook Board member, presented Lynne Manning and Hugh Bryan, MD of Arts on Main with a $15,000 check for securing matching contributions from “never-before” friends and donors during this last fiscal year ending June 30, 2020.

Construction of a project to reduce driver delay at the intersection of Route 3/Route 14 (John Clayton Memorial Highway) and Route 17 Business (Main Street) in Gloucester County will begin after the Labor Day holiday, on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
