With spring on the way, Gloucester Clean Community Office announces March 16, 2019, 8 a.m. to Noon, as the official date and time for Clean Gloucester Day. This county-wide litter cleanup has become a community tradition with hundreds of volunteers removing litter from roadways, businesses, schools, neighborhoods and parks. Church groups will be encouraged to be part of the cleanup effort this year.

The Fairfield Foundation is proud to announce it is a 2018 honoree of the Virginia Association of Museums Top 10 Endangered Artifacts program for its recently discovered artifact, Images of African American Life in Mid-20th Century Gloucester County.

Announces over a Million Dollars in Investment in downtown facades & interiors since 2011. The Main Street Preservation Trust has opened applications for 2019 for business and property owners along Main Street in Gloucester who wish to improve their facades or interiors of their buildings in the commercial area of Main Street.

Three Gloucester Main Street business owners have earned their Certificate in Retail Operations from the Retail Alliance Foundation’s Center for Retail Excellence and were awarded more than $25,000 in grant funding to expand their services in 2019, the Gloucester Main Street Preservation Trust announced this week.

2018 – Striving towards a Healthy Community on all levels

A Main Street should be healthy on all levels. Businesses should have support and be poised for growth. Property owners should know there is an open door for discussion on real estate and rents. The past should not only be celebrated but explored. And the people…the people should feel a connection with downtown and maybe even start their health journey there.

Arts on Main launches the Artists in Residency program inviting artists from around the world to stay and work in Gloucester, Virginia. Supported by the Cook Foundation, the residency program encourages artists to engage with the community while living and pursuing their work on the Goshen estate

Calling all artists! The annual Garden Club of Virginia historic Garden Tour takes place on Saturday, April 27th, bringing thousands of visitors to our community. Arts on Main and Brent & Becky’s Bulbs are partnering to showcase our local artists on that day, 10a-4p.
