Gloucester Main Street Kicks Off the Holiday Season

Gloucester Main Street welcomed the holiday season on Saturday, December 6, during the annual Holiday Open House. The event brought the community together to enjoy festive activities, visit local shops, and take in everything happening along Main Street.

The day lined up with several familiar traditions, including Gloucester Parks, Recreation, and Tourism’s Christmas & Holiday Parade, the annual Tree Lighting presented by the Cook Foundation, and the Gloucester Resource Council’s Festival of Trees and Activity Fair. Together, these events made Main Street an especially busy and cheerful place to be.

Families enjoyed activities on the House of Ren Lawn (6596 Main St), where Santa welcomed visitors from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Kids could write Letters to Santa and add notes to the Gloucester Main Street Gratitude Tree, making the lawn a popular stop throughout the day.

Guests were encouraged to shop small and support local businesses, many of which offered unique gifts, handcrafted items, seasonal specials, and more.

To keep the holiday spirit going, select Main Street businesses will be open on Sundays with varying holiday hours throughout the season, giving shoppers even more opportunities to shop, dine, and experience Main Street.

With community traditions, family-friendly activities, and local shopping opportunities, this year’s Holiday Open House was a great start to the season on Gloucester Main Street.
