Daffodil Festival offering Anchored In Tradition sails in April
If you’re looking for that special gift this holiday season, instead of trying to find the perfect “thing,” perhaps you should consider a one-of-a-kind experience.
Gloucester Daffodil Festival coordinator Deborah Wesolowski has an idea of an event in the coming spring that might be that special gift.
Tickets are now being sold for a pair of sailing trips aboard the Schooner Alliance II on April 11 and 12, 2026.
This special event for the 2026 Gloucester Daffodil Festival celebrates the 250 Anniversary of the country, the history of the daffodils in Gloucester County, and the 40th celebration of the Gloucester Daffodil Festival.
On Saturday, April 11 is Stories of Independence on the York River. The Marquis de Lafayette will welcome guests onboard the Alliance II for a historical two-hour sail with lunch on the York River, embarking from Yorktown at 11:30 a.m., boarding at 11. Lunch provided by Water Street Grill. Fine sprits including Lafayette wine from Williamsburg winery provided at additional cost.
The following day, Sunday, April 12 is Daffodil on the North River. Brent Heath of Brent & Becky’s Bulbs will be the historical host for this two-hour sail with lunch on the North River of Gloucester where the daffodil industry began. Embarking from Ware River Yacht Club at 11 a.m., boarding at 10. Lunch provided by Nuttall’s Store. Fine spirits are available at an additional cost.
“The Daffodil Festival is very excited about bringing our nation’s history and the daffodil history of Gloucester County to guests in a very unique way and offering an extension of the festival for this year only,” Wesolowski said. “Give the gift of a great experience for the holidays.”
Tickets are $150 per person and on sale now on the Daffodil Festival website (daffodilfestivalva.org). Seating is limited.
