Gloucester Arts Festival Kicks Off June 6 with Brews, Brine, and Wine — Plus a Weekend of Main Street Events
The Gloucester Arts Festival returns this week, bringing a full month of creativity, community, and celebration to Gloucester. This year’s events invite residents and visitors alike to experience the energy and charm of Gloucester, starting with the heart of it all: Main Street.
The festival opens on Friday, June 6, with Brews, Brine, and Wine, a beautiful evening filled with oysters, craft beer, wine, and—new this year—whiskey. Guests can enjoy live music and watch festival artists create new works in real time. Come out for a lively kickoff to a month of arts-centered fun!
On Saturday, June 7, Main Street becomes the center of the action. The day begins with Paint Main, a fast-paced plein air competition where both festival artists and community members capture scenes from downtown Gloucester.
That evening, Symphony Under the Stars takes place, featuring a performance by The Liberty Dolls at 6:00 PM, followed by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra from 8:00 to 10:00 PM. Families are encouraged to bring chairs, blankets, and their love of music for one of Gloucester’s favorite summer traditions.
“These events reflect the spirit of Gloucester: creative, welcoming, and deeply rooted in community,” said David Hudson, Board Chair, Main Street Preservation Trust. “We’re proud to sponsor Symphony Under the Stars again this year and are ever thankful to The Cook Foundation for beginning this wonderful tradition in Gloucester. We hope that the festival will continue to grow for many years to come.”
The Gloucester Arts Festival continues through June with an exhibition at the Fine Arts Museum of Gloucester, additional community events, and a final It’s a Wrap party to close out the festival.
