Middle Peninsula Alliance Seeking Advisory Board Member Nominations (Copy)

The Middle Peninsula Alliance announced today it is accepting nominations from the community for private-sector leaders in business or non-profit organizations to serve on its Advisory Board.

Nominations will be accepted through May 30, 2019 online at www.mpava.com.

The Middle Peninsula Alliance is the region’s economic development lead organization, with a mission to promote the assets of Virginia’s Middle Peninsula by connecting people, ideas and resources to develop new opportunities and visibility for the region.

“Our governing Board of Directors is led by elected officials from throughout the region and while many of them work in the private sector, the Board wants to bring as many diverse voices and experiences to the table to help guide the economic development of the region,” said Liz Povar, Principal Officer for the Middle Peninsula Alliance and career economic developer. “It takes a village, as they say, to successfully do this work. Bringing the diverse experiences, knowledge and backgrounds to help guide us all as we position the Middle Peninsula as a great place to do and grow business will only make our region stronger.”

Nominees must represent the private-sector and reside in, or their business be located in, counties or towns on the Middle Peninsula, including Essex, Gloucester, King & Queen, King William, Mathews and Middlesex.

The online nomination form requires name and contact information about the nominee and nominator, and up to a 5,000-character narrative describing why the nominee would benefit the region as a member on the Advisory Board.

As the Advisory Board is newly formed, the first members of the Advisory Board will work with the Middle Peninsula Alliance’s governance Board of Directors to set the direction of its work over the course of the next year.

The Middle Peninsula Alliance anticipates naming the members of the Advisory Board by the summer of 2019.
