Gloucester County Library seeking public input on potential improvments – Main Street Preservation Trust to contribute $200,000
As part of an exciting, updated lease agreement, the Gloucester County Main Library, located in Main Street Center, will be receiving from the Main Street Preservation Trust (MSPT) approximately $200,000 over the next two years for various improvements to be made within the facility. Library patrons and members of the public are invited to share what improvements if any, they would like to see at the library. Community members are asked to submit their suggestions on an idea board set up inside the facility. Under the new agreement, MSPT, which owns the building that houses the Library, will contribute $200,000 for improvements.

In addition, a capital improvement request is included in the five-year Capital Improvement Plan to supplement the donation. The intent is to modernize the library making it safer, easier to use, and more accommodating to public needs. The County’s current lease with the MSPT that was due to expire in 2024 is now extended to 2034.
“We have been honored to have Gloucester’s treasured Library anchored at Main Street Center,” said Adrianne Joseph, Founder and Chair of the MSPT Board of Trustees. “We are excited this new agreement will ensure the Library will remain at its current location for another twelve years, in an even more enjoyable space for our community to visit and utilize.”
Diane Robertus, Gloucester’s Director of Library Services, said that public input is the most important part of the new agreement. “We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with MSPT and are thrilled with the upcoming investment into our facility. We welcome your input and hope the community will help us plan for the future,” Robertus said. “We need new paint and carpet, but, more importantly, we want to know what our patrons would like to see.”
