Mainsail Wealth Advisors Invested In The Gloucester Community
Tooling around on his bicycle as a grade-schooler, Scott Haley grew up exploring everything about Gloucester.
He didn’t have much interest in the women’s boutique that used to occupy 6641 Main Street, and certainly couldn’t have envisioned back then that, as an adult, he’d be going there every day. Today that address belongs to Mainsail Wealth Advisors, LLC, where Haley is managing partner along with Jason Koptish and Scott Glaze.
Mainsail Wealth Advisors provides investment management, retirement planning and estate planning services to retirees and those approaching retirement.
“We’re a full-service financial planning office for high net worth individuals,” Haley said. “We work with retirees and businesses to help grow their money to sustain them for the rest of their lives and to pass their legacies to their kids. We have every tool at our disposal. In a sense, we work as a GM for the client, a general manager to coach them on their financial challenges. We also work with their other advisors to help them create good tax and estate strategies.”
Mainsail Wealth Advisors also has a Richmond office for convenience to clients in that area, but home base is the Gloucester Village.
“It’s awesome to be located in downtown Gloucester,” Haley said. “It is a great place to have a business and to commune. If you want to eat local and shop local and be part of the excitement of Main Street, it’s perfect. When this building became available, we were excited to get it, excited to renovate it and make it something that people were proud to see when they walk by.”
Despite serving 500 families and businesses across 20 states, Mainsail Wealth Advisors works personally with every client. It’s not something the team there takes for granted.
“We get deeply entrenched in our clients’ lives,” Haley said. “We are their partner helping them navigate many of the challenges in their lives. A lot of times the most challenging times are emotional, and we’re part of that conversation. We are the primary advisor for them in many aspects of their lives.”
The COVID-19 pandemic forced Mainsail Wealth Advisors to adapt with the times. Traditionally what was always a suit-and-tie, in-person business evolved into meeting clients via Zoom. Haley anticipates the company making that option available even after the pandemic ends.
One aspect that hasn’t changed with COVID is Mainsail Wealth Advisors’ commitment to the community. The company regular supports the Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic by serving as a drop-off points for donations during the holidays. They also support the Angel Tree for foster youth. They were previously recognized by the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society with a Compassion in Action award. In July, they ask for food donations for the community and shred documents for their clients in return.
Staff members are also invested locally, each pertaining to individual interests. For Haley, that list is long. He’s a founding member of the Gloucester Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, varsity soccer coach at Gloucester High and a former Rotary Club member and president. He’s chaired the Daffodil Festival 5K and founded the Middle Peninsula Referral Network.
“I’ve been part of this community all my life,” he said. “We get involved because it’s the right thing to do. We do it because we love it, not for any other reason. We feel it’s important to give back. We’re very blessed to be part of this community.”
